Tapas was born when, due to an illness, the Spanish King Alfonso 10th, the Wise, had to take small bites of food with some wine between meals. Once recovered from the disease, the wise king decreed that no wine was to be served in any of the inns in the land of Castile, unless accompanied by something to eat.

Tapas has taken its place not only with its origin in Spain, but spread across the world. Tapas consists of a wide variety of small Mediterranean dishes as a delightful snack, or can be served to satisfy the appetite.

Picanto‘s Ristorante & Tapas is situated on Lavender Hills Guest Farm, only 2km from Parys.

We managed to create, amongst the natural habitat, a quaint Village with a Mediterranean ambiance. With bursts of colour, birdlife and intricately decorated buildings, you are sure to enjoy Tapas, a Spanish Tradition which is fast becoming a sought after experience.

Different venues in our Village, ensures that any customer‘s needs are met.

The Lapa is ideal for groups wanting an informal get-together. Watch the big screen, have a drink from the fully licensed Bar and be treated to a Braai or Spit by one of our Chef‘s.

The main Restaurant serves Grills, Seafood and Gourmet Meals with Tapas as a main theme. Here, superb food is enjoyed in a relaxed and somewhat “slower” atmosphere.
